On April 16, the City of Paris hosted the conference "Cities Challenged by Peace," in partnership with the association Les Guerrières de la Paix (Warriors for Peace). This event, centered on dialogue and international solidarity, brought together elected officials, activists, and citizens around a common goal: to promote peace in the Middle East and highlight the essential role of women in conflict resolution. This conference helped to raise voices of hope at a time when the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to fracture societies. To close this symbolic day, the word "Peace" was displayed at 9:30 p.m. on the Eiffel Tower, in four languages—French, English, Arabic, and Hebrew—as a solemn appeal issued by the mayors gathered in Paris. In the evening, Israeli and Palestinian activists also gathered in front of the Eiffel Tower, united for peace in Gaza. A powerful image, imbued with fraternity, that made an impression and gave a concrete face to this commitment to a possible peace, driven by civil society. Founded in 2022 by Hanna Assouline, the association Les Guerrières de la Paix brings together women committed locally and internationally to justice, freedom, and reconciliation. Together, they co-organized this day of discussions and debates in Paris, attended by municipal officials and activist figures from civil societies marked by conflict. An initial roundtable discussion featured several mayors—from Paris, Oslo, Reykjavik, Essaouira, Bilohorodka, and Sarcelles—who came to share their experiences of concrete actions taken in their cities to advance peace, coexistence, and cooperation between peoples. Each explained how, at their own level, a local elected official can create connections and open spaces for dialogue. The second roundtable focused on women, often invisible but crucial actors in conflict resolution. Speakers included Huda Abu Arqub (Palestine), Nava Hafetz (Israel), and Céline Bardet (France), all of whom are involved in grassroots initiatives, whether through mediation, humanitarian action, or international justice. Finally, a third session brought together activists from Israeli and Palestinian civil society working daily for peace. Maoz Inon, Ali Abu Awwad, and the creators of the podcast Unapologetic – Third Narrative shared their experiences and advocated for nonviolent solutions rooted in reciprocity and shared humanity. #Israel #Gaza #Palestine #Peace #EiffelTower #Paris #eiffeltower #Peace Subscribe to follow all the latest news filmed on the ground without commentary: https://youtube.com/clpress?sub_confi... #News #Information #CLPRESS
